Elon Musk’s Tesla still holds $218 million in Bitcoin (BTC). It remains one of the largest Bitcoin-holding companies.
In Tesla’s report released on Wednesday, the company says it still holds $218 million in bitcoins. In July, Tesla announced that it had sold 75 percent of its bitcoin holdings, or about $936 million at the time. After that sale, Tesla said it still held $222 million in “digital assets” on its balance sheet at the end of June.
So since July, Tesla has not sold any BTC, nor has it purchased any additional Bitcoins, as evidenced by accounting records released by Tesla yesterday.
As a reminder, in 2021, Tesla had bought $1.5 billion in bitcoin (BTC), to hold today only 218 million. Despite this sale, Tesla remains one of the largest holders of bitcoins by a publicly traded company, after MicroStrategy with 130,000 BTC (about $ 2.48 billion) and Galaxy Digital Holdings with 16,400 BTC (about $ 313 million).
