Polygon has announced that the mainnet beta of its layer2 zkEVM will be released on March 27.
Introduced last year, Polygon zkEVM, for Zero-Knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine, is a new Layer 2 solution that, as its name suggests, leverages Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proofs technology to process transactions faster and reduce fees.
On Tuesday, in a blog post, Polygon said that Layer2, which launched on the testnet last fall, would soon make its debut on the mainnet in beta.
On March 27, the journey to the future begins,” wrote the publisher.
It is learned that already more than 80,000 wallets have been created on the testnet and almost as many ZK proofs have been generated (75,000) for a total of 300,000 blocks produced.
The Polygon Labs team is proud of the level of adoption to date. Without you, the members of the Polygon and Ethereum communities who have been willing to venture to the frontiers of ZK innovation, Polygon zkEVM would not be ready for Mainnet Beta, Polygon boasted.
The Zero-Knowledge proofs technology allows Polygon to batch transactions and share Ethereum network fees among the parties involved.
Polygon zkEVM is the gold standard for EVM equivalence. Developers can copy and paste code that works on Ethereum and use it to build on Polygon zkEVM without having to change anything. It’s frictionless scaling,” the company concluded.
