NFT : Sony to allow the transfer between different gaming platforms

Sony is increasingly interested in NFT, the Japanese giant has filed a patent to allow the transfer of non-fungible tokens between different games and consoles.

The gaming sector continues its breakthrough in the Web3, the biggest video game companies want their share of the cake. The business of non-fungible tokens attracts a growing number of large companies like the Japanese giant Sony which has just filed a patent to allow the transfer of NFT between different games and consoles.

As detailed on the Patentscope website, Sony’s patent is intended to enable the transfer of non-fungible tokens between different gaming platforms, as well as the transfer of ownership of these NFTs between users of Sony’s games and consoles such as Playstation.

Ownership of the NFT may also be subsequently transferred to other end user entities for their own use in different simulations and/or platforms,” Sony Entertainment Interactive writes in its patent filing.

In some examples, the NFT can be used intergenerationally (e.g., from PS4 to PS5), Sony also states in its patent description.

A patent that also highlights how NFTs work for gamers in games and tournaments within the Sony ecosystem.

In some example embodiments, the task may include winning an e-sports tournament and the digital asset may be usable via the NFT by the first end user entity on multiple different computer simulations.

The multiple different computer simulations may include different annual versions of a particular video game title, different video games of different game genres, and/or different runtime instances of the same video game. “
