Manchester City Unveils New Jersey Via Metaverse

Manchester City is undoubtedly at the top of the list of soccer clubs most active in new technologies. To unveil its third shirt for the 2022/2023 season, the Mancunian club decided to use the metaverse.

Manchester City’s third kit for the 2022/2023 season unveiled on the Roblox metaverse

For many years, Manchester City has been thinking big and wants to offer the best to the fans on a sporting level or elsewhere. This time, it’s on Roblox that the club has decided to unveil its third shirt for the 2022/2023 season.

As a reminder, Roblox is one of the most popular metavers of the moment, like The Sandbox or Decentraland. Many prestigious brands have already entered this virtual world. To realize this project, Manchester City has partnered with Puma, the club’s official equipment supplier.

This third kit is available in digital version in the virtual store of Puma and can be used in Roblox. Until August 16, those who play and win the Football Rush game in Roblox will also get a free digital version of the shirt.

Manchester City very Web 3.0 oriented

Ever since Web 3.0 technologies started to grow, Manchester City has been on the lookout for any opportunity. For example, the club has partnered with Sony to design its stadium, the Etihad Stadium, in the metaverse. This is a major project, as the stadium will be replicated in every detail.

In May 2022, Manchester City also made official the launch of its NFT collection to commemorate its 2011/2012 English Championship title. The project was named “93:20”. This name refers to the goal of Sergio Aguero scored exactly at this moment of the match, giving the victory and the championship to the Sky Blues. As a reminder, this title in 2011/2012 is the first after a gap of more than 40 years.

Finally, Manchester City has already launched its fan token called CITY on the Chiliz ecosystem about a year ago. All this shows the club’s involvement in the technologies of the future.
