Ethereum Merge : Google adds a countdown in its results

Google has rolled out a new widget on its search engine offering a countdown (date and time…) to the highly anticipated The Merge update on Ethereum.

As the Ethereum merge approaches, search engine giant Google has released a widget in its search engine results to track the rollout of “The Merge” which will move Ethereum to a Proof-of-stake validation mechanism.

Typing “ethereum merge” into Google’s search engine provides a countdown timer, difficulty rate (the number of times a miner must compute hashes to record a block of transactions), hash rate (the total combined computing power used across the entire network) and a cartoon depicting two happy bears approaching with outstretched arms.

On Friday on Twitter, Sam Padilla, Web3 engineer at Google, introduced the widget, inviting ETH developers Vitalik Buterin and Justin Drake to google “Merge”.
