Last night, the Celo Foundation announced the start of a new collaboration with the cloud branch of the American giant Google. This partnership aims to support the development and creation of Web3 applications.
In a press release, the two companies say they will host workshops and events around Web3 sustainability and innovation for blockchain developers.
Indeed, this alliance aims to support Celo network startups focused on sustainability and help them evolve their applications. Namely, cLabs, the company behind the Celo project, had already been leveraging Google Cloud infrastructure for several years.
From now on, the cloud platform will offer “credits” but also “advice” to builders who build on the Celo blockchain.
In addition, developers will get access to the Firebase application hosting and development service offered by Google.
Google Cloud will also provide guidance to the Celo Foundation’s Founder in Residence program and the Celo Camp virtual gas pedal. Through this partnership with the Google giant, developers on the blockchain network will also receive credits for Google Cloud and Firebase services.
Xochitl Cazador, head of ecosystem growth at the Celo Foundation, said:
Our partnership with Google Cloud will help Web3 developers and founders leverage the Celo blockchain to build and scale their applications on the industry’s cleanest cloud.
Richard Widmann, Web3 strategy manager at Google Cloud, commented:
Google Cloud is focused on enabling the next wave of innovation in Web3, so we’re excited to extend our partnership with Celo to offer Google Cloud credits and guidance to their developer community.
As a reminder, launched in 2020 and backed by a16z and Coinbase, Celo is based on a proof-of-stake mechanism and presents itself as a “carbon-negative”, mobile-friendly, EVM-enabled blockchain network.
By partnering with Celo, Google thus continues to invest ever more in the burgeoning blockchain and crypto sector.
An announcement that yesterday made the CELO price jump to $0.76, a price of the Celo token that is currently around $0.68, click here to follow the CELO price in real time.
